Repsol's Frye Solar Project Now Online, Texas' Largest PV Plant
Repsol has completed construction on its largest photovoltaic (PV) plant to date, the Frye Solar Project, located in Kress, Texas. The project, with an installed capacity of 637 MW, has gone online with an initial capacity of 570 MW.
The Frye Solar Project, a utility-scale solar power facility, has a long-term power purchase agreement for 89% of its overall output, approximately 566 megawatts. Repsol, the project's developer, has deployed around 1,000,000 solar panels to achieve this capacity.
The project was commissioned in phases between 2022 and 2024. Repsol, aiming to have 20GW of deployed solar projects by 2030, has already reached an operational status of 570 MW at the Frye Solar Project.
In September 2023, Repsol acquired a 20,000 MW project portfolio from ConnectGen, including onshore wind turbines, solar plants, and energy storage facilities in the USA. The Frye Solar Project is one of the key assets in this portfolio.
Repsol's latest achievement, the Frye Solar Project, is a significant step towards its renewable energy targets. With the project now online, Repsol has begun construction on the 595 MW Pecan Prairie solar facility in Leon County, Texas, further expanding its solar footprint in the region.
