Returning CCTV cameras determine fresh violations in Omsk region
🚘 Speed Cameras Return to Omsk Region Roads 🚘
Here's some exciting news, folks! Recently, Omsk Police announced the return of those pesky speeding ticket cameras, locally known as "tripods," to the region's highways.
On Sunday, May 11, 2025, the Police Department unveiled this development, setting up 22 mobile speed camera units on hazardous stretches of federal and regional highways in April.
"Their software upgrade now allows for speeding violations, in addition to speeding, to be recorded. This includes seatbelt use violations and phone usage while driving", explains the Police Department.
Over 5,000 "letters of joy" have been sent to speeders, with many already busted for exceeding speed limits.
One such driver is a chap at the wheel of a "Toyota Camry." Ever since the installation of the new speed camera, he's found himself in the lens ten times, for going over the speed limit. His total fines amount to a whopping 20,000 rubles.
