Mercedes-Benz Unveils Next-Generation GLC EV

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its latest electric vehicle (EV), the GLC EV, at the Munich Motor Show. The GLC EV is set to join the Mercedes-Benz line-up in the first half of 2026, marking a significant step forward in the company's electrification strategy.

The GLC EV is a successor to the EQC and boasts an impressive array of features. It uses the same Airmatic air suspension found in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, along with rear-axle steering and intelligent suspension control. This advanced suspension system communicates with traffic infrastructure to sense and respond to speed bumps on the road, ensuring a smooth ride.

The new generation battery pack in the GLC EV supports charging speeds of up to 330 kW, allowing for a 300 km range in just 10 minutes. The flagship variant of the GLC EV will channel power to two motors, each powering one axle, and produce 476 bhp peak power.

The GLC EV offers 570 litres of cargo space in the rear and a 128-litre frunk (front trunk). The vehicle is 3.1 inches longer than the combustion engine propelled GLC, providing enhanced front and rear legroom and headroom.

In terms of design, the GLC EV features star-shaped LED lights at the front and back as a key exterior design element. The star-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRL) are expected to become a signature design element across the entire Mercedes-Benz lineup in the near future. At the back, the GLC EV concept includes star-shaped LED lights and a two-piece roof spoiler.

The optional panoramic glass roof in the GLC EV includes a constellation of 162 LEDs replicating a star-studded sky. The panoramic glass roof can shift from transparent to opaque across nine individually switchable segments, providing drivers with the flexibility to control the amount of light entering the vehicle.

The illuminated grille of the GLC EV consists of 942 small squares illuminated by 140 individual LEDs. This design element, which is expected to become a signature feature of the GLC EV series, is inspired by the illuminated grille designs of Mercedes' Bavarian rival, BMW.

The MBUX Hyperscreen in the GLC EV uses matrix backlight technology with over 1,000 LEDs and supports zone dimming. The screen spans an impressive 39.1 inches, making it the largest display ever fitted in a Mercedes-Benz car.

The GLC EV will be sold alongside the ICE-powered version, offering customers a choice between traditional combustion engines and electric powertrains. The production version of the all-electric SUV is set to join the Mercedes-Benz line-up in the first half of 2026.

With its advanced technology, sleek design, and impressive charging capabilities, the GLC EV is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market.
