Ripple's CTO David Schwartz Steps Back, Looks to XRP's Future

David Schwartz, Ripple's long-serving CTO, will step back from his day-to-day duties at the end of 2022. He will join the college board of directors as CTO emeritus, bringing his 13-year tenure to a new phase.

Schwartz, who co-founded the XRP Ledger in 2011 with Arthur Britto, Jed McCaleb, and Chris Larsen, sees a bright future for the ledger. He highlighted tokenization of real-world assets, institutional stablecoin adoption, and curated on-chain features as the strongest tailwinds driving its growth.

In his farewell, Schwartz addressed misconceptions about XRP, stating clearly that Ripple does not control the ledger. He praised Ripple President Monica Long, Executive Chairman Chris Hemsworth, SVP of Engineering Dennis Jarosch, and the wider XRP community for their support and collaboration throughout his time at Ripple.

Schwartz looks forward to spending more time with his family and returning to his personal hobbies. He also plans to engage more deeply with the XRP community, exploring new use cases and contributing to hands-on coding projects on an XRPL node. His move to the college board of directors ensures his continued involvement in Ripple's future.
