Role Transition: Network Manager in NCN Strategic Planning Department

The National Cycle Network (NCN) is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to fill the role of Network Development Manager for NCN Planning in Scotland. This role is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a movement that aims to make it easier for people to walk and cycle, while contributing to the Paths for Everyone Strategy to shape and develop the future vision for the National Cycle Network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a small team to initiate, develop, and deliver projects that advance the National Cycle Network in Scotland.
  • Identify projects for investment, manage them through feasibility stages, and liaise with local authorities and other partners to agree on design proposals.
  • Collaborate closely with councils and partners to identify and initiate projects that will fix and grow the National Cycle Network in Scotland.
  • Build and manage internal and external relationships effectively, pursuing new business development opportunities and contributing toward new ideas and strategies for network advancement.
  • Demonstrate project management expertise, strategic support, and the ability to maximize income and focus resources on impactful projects.

Requirements

Candidates should have experience in transport planning or a related subject, effective negotiation skills, and experience in working with stakeholders and the public sector. They should also be able to coordinate activities with the wider NCN team and across the organization.

The Group Personal Pension scheme offers a 6% or 7% of basic salary contribution being matched by the website. The role requires travel and work at locations across Scotland as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of the website. Flexible Working practices are offered, with full-time hours being 37.5 per week, Monday - Friday. Enhanced maternity and paternity pay are also offered.
