Samsung Confirms Galaxy AI Features Will Remain Free Beyond 2025

In a welcome announcement for Samsung users, the tech giant has confirmed that all default AI features pre-installed on Galaxy devices will remain free indefinitely[1][2][3][5]. This means users will not be charged for the AI capabilities, such as Live Translate, Writing Assist, Note Assist, Photo Eraser, and others, on their Galaxy phones[1][3][5].

Previously, there had been speculation that these AI features might only be free through the end of 2025. However, recent direct communications from Samsung have clarified that these default AI features will never carry a fee[1][3][5].

Samsung's mobile chief also stated that they do not intend to charge for Galaxy AI, although the possibility of a separate paid subscription offering advanced, additional AI capabilities from Samsung or Google may emerge[2][4].

While Samsung's Galaxy AI features, including Live Translate, Note Assist, Zoom Nightography, Audio Eraser, Browsing Assist, Generative Wallpapers, and others, will remain free, Google offers advanced AI features like Gemini AI Pro and Ultra with paywalls[2][3][5].

Google unveiled new Gemini features for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 during their launch, including a Google AI Pro subscription for six months at no cost[2][3][5]. The subscription for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 is built on Google's Gemini 2.5 Pro and features the latest Veo 3 Fast[2][3].

Samsung has not yet shared much about how things will go forward regarding the Galaxy AI features, even in any of the recent Unpacked events held this year[6]. However, Samsung has confirmed to Android Police that all Galaxy AI features coming on Galaxy phones by default will remain free[7].

This new development provides clarity about the uncertainty around the Galaxy AI features regarding how long they would be free. Samsung is not introducing paywalls for its core Galaxy AI features, unlike Google's approach with some paid AI subscriptions[8].

Some Gemini features are free and will be available on Galaxy phones. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 will receive access to Google AI Pro subscription for six months at no cost[2][3][5].

The new Galaxy AI features were brought with the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, and they will continue to be available on future Galaxy phones like the Galaxy S25 series[9]. This commitment applies to existing features like Live Translate, Note Assist, Zoom Nightography, Audio Eraser, Browsing Assist, Generative Wallpapers, and others on Galaxy phones[10].

In summary, Galaxy AI basic features will remain free beyond 2025, while Samsung might introduce optional paid AI subscriptions for extra capabilities in the future. This new development is a relief for Samsung users who can continue to enjoy these AI features without worrying about any additional costs.
