Samsung to Unveil Tri-Fold Smartphone and Challenge Apple's Vision Pro by Year-End 2025
Samsung is set to launch its groundbreaking tri-fold smartphone, tentatively named the Galaxy G Fold, by the end of 2025. This innovative device boasts a unique tri-fold design, featuring two hinges and three screens, offering flexibility between phone, mid-size, and tablet modes.
The compact 6.5-6.7-inch phone-sized display unfolds to a fully unfolded 10-inch OLED tablet-sized display, providing users with an unprecedented level of versatility. The device will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, ensuring top-tier performance.
To protect the flexible OLED panel and improve durability, Samsung will incorporate advanced hinge technology known as the G-Type Fold mechanism. The device is also rumoured to use silicon-carbon battery technology to achieve greater thinness and improved battery efficiency.
The Galaxy G Fold is expected to be sleek, lightweight, and durable, with a chassis weighing around 190 grams. It will feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, IP68 water resistance, and advanced camera systems with multiple modules, including a high-resolution main sensor and an improved 12MP selfie camera. Fast 45W charging is also expected.
Samsung will integrate its AI suite powered by Google Gemini and proprietary algorithms for enhanced intelligence and multitasking. However, some final product details, such as the exact battery capacity and the final product name, remain unconfirmed.
Samsung is focusing heavily on ensuring usability, perfection, and mass manufacturing feasibility before launch. The reveal follows Samsung’s ongoing innovation trajectory in foldables and aims to compete directly with similar devices like Huawei's Mate X series.
