Samsung's Secure WiFi Gets Post-Quantum Boost for Automatic Public Network Protection

Samsung has bolstered its Secure WiFi feature, offering users enhanced security while browsing on public networks. The upgrade, now including post-quantum cryptography, fortifies data transmission and offers automatic security in public places. This comes as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) reports improved encryption standards on most websites, making public Wi-Fi safer for browsing.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) previously warned against using free public Wi-Fi at airports due to cybersecurity risks. Samsung's Secure WiFi now offers Auto Protect, automatically activating in public places to secure connections without user intervention. This feature complements Enhanced Privacy Protection (EPP), which encrypts internet traffic and routes it through multiple layers to prevent tracking.

The upgrade also includes post-quantum cryptography, reinforcing the secure tunnel between Samsung Galaxy devices and servers. This technology ensures data transmission security, even in high-risk environments like public Wi-Fi. Devices eligible for this enhanced Secure WiFi feature include the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, and other specified Galaxy devices receiving the One UI 8 rollout this year. Users can enable Secure WiFi through Settings, Security and Privacy, and then select More Security Settings.

With the upgrade, Samsung's Secure WiFi now offers users more robust security while browsing on unsecured, public networks. This enhancement aligns with the FTC's recent report on improved encryption standards, making public Wi-Fi networks generally safer for browsing. Users can now enjoy peace of mind while connecting to public Wi-Fi, with Samsung's automatic security and enhanced privacy features.
