Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 might feature high-end camera specifications akin to flagship models.
Samsung has an major mobile event planned in the near future. As of now, no details have been disclosed, but considering Samsung's history of unveiling its flip-style phones during the summer months, we're anticipating some new Galaxy foldables.
The initial hints of what's to come have surfaced, courtesy of leaker Ice Universe, who published what is claimed to be the "100% accurate" specifications sheet for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 on Twitter on May 30th. The leak suggests that Samsung's fourth-generation foldable will be more of an incremental upgrade rather than a major overhaul compared to its predecessor.
The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 is expected to feature a 7.6-inch QXGA+ AMOLED display when unfolded and a 6.2-inch HD+ AMOLED display on the exterior. Both displays are rumored to boast a 120Hz refresh rate. Compare this to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which also boasts similar display specifications, including a 7.6-inch interior screen and 6.2-inch exterior Cover Screen. Don't expect a significant jump in display resolution either.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is speculated to be more advanced than its flagship counterpart, the Galaxy S22. The Z Fold 4 could potentially be upgraded with Qualcomm's next-gen mobile processor, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. If the leak is to be believed, Samsung is opting for a third-party processor instead of its own Exynos in its flagships and foldables. This is an interesting shift, especially considering mid-range models like the Galaxy A53 5G have also made the switch.
The leak also suggests that the Z Fold 4 will come with 12GB of RAM, two storage options (up to 512GB), and a 4400 mAh battery, the same size as last year's model.
The most intriguing detail, however, is that this generation's Galaxy foldables could potentially have the same camera system as the Galaxy flagship devices. The leaked spec sheet indicates that we'll see a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens with up to 3x optical zoom. This setup is reminiscent of the Galaxy S22. If the leak is accurate, the Galaxy foldable will have a significantly better camera than its previous iterations.
The leak does not mention the possibility of an S-Pen slot, though the foldable is expected to support the stylus, much like its predecessors. It's unclear whether the S-Pen will be included in the package or sold separately.
As always, we'll have to wait for Samsung to officially announce the smartphone to know for sure. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is likely to be unveiled alongside the next-generation Z Flip 4, which is also generating a lot of buzz. If Samsung continues with its traditional launch schedule, we can expect more details in a few short months.
The leaked specifications hint at an improved tech landscape for the Galaxy Z Fold 4, with rumors of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 powering the device. Looking towards the future, the fusion of Galaxy flagship camera capabilities could significantly enhance the Z Fold 4's photographic prowess.
