SE Asia's Initial AI-Integrated Battery-Switching Station Officially Launched by U Power

U Power Launches Southeast Asia's First AI-Integrated Smart Battery-Swapping Station in Phuket, Thailand

U Power, in collaboration with SUSCO Public Company Limited, has unveiled Southeast Asia's first operational AI-integrated smart battery-swapping station in Phuket, Thailand. This pioneering facility, designed for electric taxis and ride-hailing fleets, is the region's first fully operational zero-carbon battery-swapping station[1][2][3].

The Thailand Station incorporates U Power’s proprietary UOTTA battery charging and swapping system, enhancing data transmission and station control logic[1]. It supports multi-model compatibility and is prepared for future Level 4 autonomous vehicles, enabling unmanned, automated battery swaps[1]. The station also includes U Power’s Battery-bank system, incentivizing EV drivers with battery tokens for swapping activities[1][2][3].

This launch follows U Power’s delivery in May 2025 of Southeast Asia’s first battery-swapping compatible taxi fleet in the region, specifically designed for taxis and ride-hailing services[1][2][3]. Future plans with SUSCO involve a wide deployment of this smart swapping infrastructure across SUSCO’s network of around 1,000 fueling stations throughout Thailand[1].

U Power's global expansion continues with ongoing projects and partnerships in Singapore, Macau, Hong Kong, Mexico, Portugal, and South America. The goal is to scale EV adoption and battery swapping infrastructure globally[3][4]. In Macau, U Power has agreed to facilitate the deployment of UOTTA battery-swapping stations and sales of compatible EVs, with plans for approximately 600 four-wheeled and 5,000 two-wheeled vehicles[4].

Johnny Lee, CEO and Chairman of U Power, stated that the Thailand Station is a significant milestone in expanding their global footprint and a pivotal advancement in their joint venture with SUSCO[5]. U Power has also partnered with the Portuguese Taxi Association to establish the joint venture ELMO in Europe.

In Singapore, U Power has launched the "ESP Model" to deploy 5,000 swappable electric vehicles and a corresponding number of UOTTATM stations, and convert 300 existing MG EP taxis into swappable versions[3]. The first UOTTATM smart swapping station in Hong Kong opened in June in Kwai Chung, with plans to build 55 stations to serve taxis, buses, and ferries[3].

The Thailand Station marks a significant step towards U Power's aim of creating a smarter, greener, and more efficient energy future through its smart swapping stations. The station, designed to withstand Phuket's tropical climate, represents U Power's first fully automated EV energy replenishment model and is the first zero-carbon battery-swapping station in the region[1][2][3].
