Bosch Rexroth Augsburg Undergoes Strategic Transformation Amid Job Cuts

Bosch Rexroth, a subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH, has announced a strategic transformation for its Augsburg plant in Lower Franconia, Germany. The move comes as the company aims to secure its long-term competitiveness amidst job cuts.

The future concept for the site focuses on expanding the service business and a stronger focus on core competencies at the Augsfeld site. The company has been experiencing significant problems for some time, similar to many other companies in the industry.

Key measures being taken include restructuring and job reductions, investment in technology, skills development and training, product portfolio optimization, process optimization, and the implementation of performance- and flexibility-enhancing measures such as adapted shift models.

The restructuring involves consolidating production in the mobile control components sector. The order situation at the Augsfeld plant has deteriorated significantly since the end of 2023, leading to several job losses through internal transfers to other sites and unfilled positions at the Augsfeld plant. However, fewer job cuts than initially announced will occur at the Augsfeld plant following the restructuring.

The social plan and interest settlement for the mobile hydraulics site in Augsfeld have been agreed upon by the employer and employee representatives. Voluntary measures, such as severance agreements with severance payments, early retirement offers, and part-time retirement regulations, have also been agreed upon for the Augsfeld site.

The plant has been underutilized due to the deteriorating order situation. The negotiated future concept for the Augsfeld site has been developed to ensure its long-term viability. The total number of job cuts at Bosch Rexroth in Augsfeld by the end of 2027 will be around 80, significantly fewer than initially announced in November.

The employees at the Augsfeld site were informed about the negotiation results on Tuesday, 29 July 2025. The company headquarters are in Stuttgart, while the central administration is located in Lohr am Main, Germany.

The negotiations for the realignment of the Augsfeld plant have now been completed. Bosch Rexroth AG is a company that focuses on solutions in the field of drive and control technology. The goal is to secure sustainable jobs in the long term, despite the short-term challenges posed by restructuring.

Finance plays a crucial role in the restructuring process at Bosch Rexroth's Augsfeld plant, as the company invests in technology and skills development to enhance performance and flexibility. The strategic transformation in business also includes a focus on expanding the service business and optimizing the product portfolio to ensure long-term competitiveness in the technology sector.
