What's going down?

Microsoft announced in February that they'd be pulling the plug on Skype on May 5. Fret not, though, as those with existing accounts can use them to log into Teams, Microsoft's go-to office videoconferencing and collaboration platform. Users also have the option to transfer their contacts and conversations.

If you had a Skype number or a calling subscription, those automatic renewals have ceased on April 3. You can still dial through the web portal or Teams to make calls, but keep in mind that your numbers won't expire until your subscription does.

If you want to hold onto your beloved Skype number, you can transfer it to another provider of your choosing – be it a phone carrier, VoIP service, or something else. But remember, you'll need to initiate the process through the new provider, not Skype.
