St. Petersburg Airport's digital platform has fallen victim to a cyberattack.
The Russian airline Aeroflot recently experienced a cyberattack on July 28, which has caused some disruption to its operations. The Silent Crow and "Cyberpartisans BY" groups have claimed responsibility for the attack.
Despite the incident, the Pulkovo airport, where Aeroflot's airport is situated, is currently operating normally. Flight registration is proceeding as usual. However, over 50 round-trip flights from Moscow had to be canceled due to the system failure caused by the hacker attack.
The system failure also led to the temporary suspension of access to passenger personal accounts. Aeroflot has apologized for the inconvenience caused by the attack.
The incident occurred under Part 4 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, leading to the opening of a criminal case for unauthorized access to computer information. The Roskomnadzor, the federal service for supervision in the sphere of communications, information technology, and mass media, has confirmed that active work is underway to restore the Aeroflot airport site.
Thankfully, the Roskomnadzor and other authorities have confirmed that the hackers did not gain access to the personal data of passengers or airline employees. This means that the sensitive information of those using Aeroflot's services remains secure.
