Stadler Scores Big in Germany and Unveils Europe's First Battery Narrow-Gauge Train
Swiss train manufacturer Stadler has scored two significant wins. It has secured a major order for 36 FLIRT XL trains in Germany and presented Europe's first battery-powered narrow-gauge train, the 'Treen', at EXPO Ferroviaria in Milan.
The 36 FLIRT XL trains will serve the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn network, operating on lines S5, S8, and later RE41 by the end of 2029. This deal, valued in the hundreds of millions of euros, underscores Stadler's strength in established markets, with Germany remaining a key customer.
Meanwhile, the 'Treen' will revolutionise travel in southern Italy. It will run between Altamura and Matera, saving over 1,300 tons of CO2 emissions in its service life. This innovation demonstrates Stadler's commitment to sustainable technologies.
These achievements follow Stadler's delivery of the 1,000th train in Poland and a strategic locomotive order from a private Turkish customer. These successes have boosted investor confidence and contributed positively to the stock's outlook.
Stadler's dual strategy of innovation and market strength has yielded impressive results. The FLIRT XL order and the 'Treen' project showcase the company's commitment to sustainability and its strong position in key markets. As these projects progress, their impact on Stadler's share price is expected to become clearer.
