Steam's latest update introduces a 'customise' feature for games, enabling users to sort their titles based on release date, or opt to view Big Naturals Withers each time they open Baldur's Gate 3.
Steam, the popular gaming platform, has introduced a new feature in its Beta Client update – the Customization tab. This tab, available in the game's properties, offers users the ability to customize the appearance and sorting of games in their library.
Customizing Game Sort Order
One of the key features of the Customization tab is the ability to set a custom sort name for each game. This name is used solely for sorting purposes in the library, allowing you to group games or order them as you prefer without changing their display name.
To use this feature:
- Open your Steam library.
- Right-click a game and select Properties.
- Go to the Customization tab.
- Enter a Custom Sort Name for the game to control its sort order.
This update is especially useful for organizing large collections or series (e.g., grouping all Yakuza/Like a Dragon games together regardless of their official titles) and helps declutter library navigation.
Personalizing Game Artwork (Desktop Only)
The Customization tab also allows users to set custom artwork for their games to personalize how they look in their library. This feature is available on desktop platforms.
Other Features
In addition to custom sorting and artwork, the update also allows users to:
- Label games by their release date for easy sorting.
- Tag games with labels like "good stuff" for easier sorting.
- Assign a percentile review score to games for easier organization.

Please note that the update does not apply to physical games or games not on the Steam platform.
Accessing the Customization Tab
To access these new features, make sure your Steam client is switched to the Beta or Preview channel. You can do this by going to settings > interface > client beta participation.
