Subaru plans to Introduce Three New Electric Sport Utility Vehicles by 2026
Subaru has announced the release of three new electric vehicles (EVs) in 2026, including the Uncharted, E-Outback, and an updated version of the Solterra. The Solterra will be the first to launch, towards the end of 2025, followed by the Uncharted and E-Outback early in 2026.
Subaru Uncharted: A Powerful Electric Compact Crossover
The Subaru Uncharted is an all-electric compact crossover that shares its platform with the Toyota C-HR+. However, Subaru has tuned the Uncharted for a more dynamic drive and enhanced AWD performance, with two identical motors. The Uncharted will be available in two battery sizes, 57.7kWh and 77kWh, and two motor configurations - single and dual.
The Uncharted features a square-shaped steering wheel, dual wireless smartphone charging pads, and a 14-inch infotainment display. The FWD models with a 57.7kWh battery have a range of 276 miles, while those with a 77kWh battery have a range of 363 miles.
Subaru E-Outback: A Rugged Electric SUV
The E-Outback is an electric version of the Outback, sharing its platform with the Toyota bZ4X Touring. The E-Outback is designed to be a more rugged, Subaru-focused EV crossover, with AWD, multi-surface drive modes, and hill descent control.
The E-Outback will have a 210mm ground clearance and a wagon silhouette, replacing the current petrol-powered Outback in Subaru's line-up. The 77kWh battery version of the E-Outback has a towing capacity of 1,500kg.
Updated Solterra: Improved Performance and Range
The updated Solterra will feature a facelift and improvements in performance and range. It will retain the same 74.7-kWh battery as the Uncharted, offering an estimated range of around 260 miles WLTP. The Solterra will also have a twin-motor set-up, but with a smaller motor on the rear axle, offering around 380 hp in the Trailseeker trim.
The new Solterra will also charge faster than its previous version. The Solterra's towing capacity has doubled to 1,600 kg, and it will offer a 14.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, the largest in Subaru.
