Suspected Scattered Spider Member Arrested in UK for Casino, TfL Attacks
A suspected member of the notorious hacking group, Scattered Spider, was arrested in the UK on September 17. The arrest follows a series of cyber attacks on Las Vegas and Transport for London (TfL).
The suspect, a juvenile, was booked for computer intrusion, extortion, identity theft, and conspiracy to commit extortion. Authorities are seeking to move the case to the criminal division for adult charges. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is involved in the investigation.
The cyber attacks on Las Vegas, which occurred between August and October 2023, have been linked to the Scattered Spider group. The group is also accused of the cyber attack on TfL on August 31, 2024. Both suspects, including Thalha Jubair, a 19-year-old UK national and core member of Scattered Spider, are charged with conspiring together under the Computer Misuse Act.
The arrest of the suspected Scattered Spider member marks a significant development in the investigation into the cyber attacks on Las Vegas and TfL. The juvenile suspect faces serious charges and may be tried as an adult. Authorities continue to work on the case.
