CRA Expands Digital Broadcasting Capacity with Acquisition of Prague Digital TV, s.r.o.
The Czech Republic's communication company, Ceské Radiokomunikace (CRA), has completed the acquisition of Prague Digital TV, s.r.o., significantly boosting its capacity for digital broadcasting. This acquisition, which was finalised recently, marks an important step forward for CRA as it continues to expand its portfolio of digital broadcasting networks.
Prague Digital TV, s.r.o. operates transmitters in Prague as part of Regional Network 4, providing digital television services to the residents of the city. With the acquisition now complete, CRA is now the sole owner of this important asset.
The acquisition of Prague Digital TV, s.r.o. also has wider implications for the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). This deal increases CRA's capacity for digital broadcasting, contributing to the Union's overall efforts to promote and advance digital broadcasting across Europe.
The EBU, an association of European public service media, recently held its General Assembly in Geneva where several key decisions were made. One of the most significant was the election of new members to the EBU's Executive Board. Milen Mitev, director-general of Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), was elected to the Board for the first time, marking a new chapter in his career.
Another notable change in the EBU's leadership was the election of Cilla Benkö, director-general of Swedish Radio, as the new Vice-President of the Union. This is a significant appointment, reflecting Benkö's expertise and commitment to the cause of public service broadcasting in Europe.
Meanwhile, the position of Vice President of the EBU was taken over by the German journalist Monika Piel. Piel brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role, having previously served as the head of ARD's news department and as a member of the EBU's Radio Committee.
With these changes in leadership and the acquisition of Prague Digital TV, s.r.o., the future of digital broadcasting in Europe looks bright. As public service broadcasters continue to innovate and adapt to changing technologies, they will play a crucial role in ensuring that citizens across the continent have access to high-quality, reliable news and entertainment.
