Tang Thomas Strengthens Its Disputes and Healthcare Practices with Ammar Lulla's Appointment

Ammar Lulla, a seasoned litigator with extensive experience in disputes and healthcare sectors, has joined Tang Thomas, a boutique law firm in Singapore, as a partner and co-head of the disputes and healthcare practices.

Lulla's appointment marks another significant step in Tang Thomas's growth strategy, particularly in its key practice areas. With his expertise in complex commercial litigation, arbitration, white-collar crime investigations, and regulatory matters, Lulla will co-lead the healthcare practice alongside joint managing partner Cynthia Tang. Together, they will develop advisory services for healthcare providers and operators on contentious and compliance matters.

Lulla's impressive track record includes representing Fortune 500 multinational corporations in conspiracy and bribery cases, handling internal investigations for SGX-listed companies, and advising senior executives in criminal investigations involving allegations of conspiracy to defraud and secret profits. He has also worked on high-profile international cases such as the 1MDB corruption scandal and Wirecard fraud matters.

At Cairnhill Law, Lulla advised technology and chemical companies on corporate governance matters. His appointment at Tang Thomas follows the recent recruitment of Simran Toor as head of regulatory and investigations and co-head of disputes.

The rapid succession of partner hires at Tang Thomas is a reflection of their strategy to build specialist, partner-led practices in niche areas, focusing on regulatory matters, investigations, and complex commercial disputes. Raj Joshua Thomas, the joint managing partner of Tang Thomas, stated that Lulla strengthens their position in regulatory disputes, statutory advice, and litigation practice.

Tang Thomas now has six partners following the appointment of Ammar Lulla, and the firm expects to further expand its capabilities in the coming months. The aggressive growth strategy is evident in the rapid succession of senior hires, including Lulla, in less than a month. The healthcare practice is one of the niche areas that Tang Thomas is focusing on in its aggressive growth strategy.
