Taurus G3c: New Subcompact Pistol Packs Features, Affordability

Taurus has introduced the G3c, a subcompact pistol that packs the features of its larger sibling, the G3, into a more compact frame. The G3c offers a blend of affordability, reliability, and practicality.

The G3c is a striker-fired pistol with an additional manual thumb safety, providing an extra layer of security. It features fixed steel sights with a white-dot front and a plain square notch rear, which can be adjusted for zeroing. For those who prefer to mount accessories, the G3c comes with an accessory rail at the front of the dust cover.

The G3c's slide has a clean, angular profile with a large bevel at the top and front for holster comfort. It sports a Tenifer finish for enhanced hardness and corrosion resistance. The frame is designed for a secure grip, with scallops on both sides for the thumb and non-slip panels. A two-part recess at the bottom aids in magazine removal.

In terms of performance, the G3c produces reasonably tight groups and has mild recoil, weighing 22 ounces. It boasts a beefy extractor, a 3-inch barrel, and a dual-spring recoil system made entirely of steel. The slide-stop lever locks the slide open when the last round is fired and can be released manually or by retracting the slide.

The Taurus G3c is a compelling subcompact pistol option, offering a balance of features, affordability, and performance. With an MSRP of $306, it undercuts many of its competitors in the 9 mm subcompact category. Its robust construction and practical design elements make it a worthy consideration for those in the market for a reliable, compact sidearm.
