Team Fortress 2 Classic Open Beta Starts October 13

An open beta for the Team Fortress 2 Classic mod is set to begin on October 13, coinciding with Steam Next Fest. This mod aims to recreate the original Team Fortress 2 experience, before 'hats' and bots dominated the game.

To join the open beta, players need Team Fortress 2 installed and should download the mod from Steam once the beta begins. The beta will last for two weeks, concluding on October 27.

The open beta will feature all TF2C-exclusive weapons, gamemodes, and maps, excluding Casbah. It will also include new additions and balance changes. Notably, the Four-Team mode will be supported, adding Green and Yellow teams to the traditional Red and Blue.

Developed by the TF2 Classic Team, also known as Eminoma, the mod was launched in 2014 and has been continually updated since. The open beta serves as an opportunity for developers to gather feedback from new players. The team plans to release a Steam version of the mod in the future, made possible by the Team Fortress 2 SDK launch in February.

The open beta for Team Fortress 2 Classic begins on October 13, offering players a chance to experience the game as it was originally intended. With a variety of features and the opportunity to provide feedback, the beta is a significant step towards the planned Steam release.
