Technology firm Green Project Technologies obtains emissions reduction platform Emitwise in an acquisition deal.

In a strategic move, Green Project Technologies, a leading carbon management software provider based in New York, has announced the acquisition of the technology platform of Emitwise, a UK-based company specializing in Scope 3 emissions-focused carbon accounting solutions. The acquisition aims to create a "one-stop shop" for supply chain carbon management.

Emitwise, founded in 2019, offers solutions to increase visibility into supply chain carbon footprints and reduce Scope 3 emissions. Their offerings include a procurement-focused scope 3 decarbonization platform and an AI-powered Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) Calculator. The PCF Calculator allows suppliers to rapidly calculate PCFs, providing a streamlined approach to carbon accounting.

The joint market offerings of Green Project Technologies and Emitwise are well-matched. Green Project Technologies provides a web-based platform for carbon accounting, supplier engagement, reporting, and advisory services, helping enterprises measure, manage, and reduce emissions across their operations and value chains. The addition of Emitwise's technology enhances these capabilities, offering automated supplier data collection, emissions benchmarking through scorecards, and rapid PCF calculation.

The co-founders of Emitwise, Ben Peddie (Chief Technology Officer) and Eduardo Gomez (Chief Product Officer), will join Green Project Technologies following the acquisition. Several commercial, customer success, and engineering employees from Emitwise will also join the combined team. The combined team will consist of employees from both Green Project Technologies and Emitwise.

The acquisition is strategically positioned to help companies at all levels of climate maturity more effectively measure, manage, and reduce emissions across their value chains. The impact includes enhanced supplier mobilization for climate action, more accurate and audit-grade emissions accounting, and integrated renewable energy procurement capabilities via ACT Group's digital marketplace.

The acquisition of Emitwise by Green Project Technologies is expected to drive a new chapter of climate innovation, as stated by Jop Gerritsen, Managing Director of ACT Digital. This comes after Green Project Technologies was previously acquired by environmental solutions provider ACT Group in 2023. The joining of Emitwise’s founding team members with Green Project signals ongoing innovation and evolution of supply chain carbon solutions under a unified platform geared to deliver best-in-class climate impact for corporate supply chains worldwide.

Sam Stark, the Chief Executive Officer at Green Project Technologies, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating that it combines Green Project’s audit-grade carbon accounting, reporting, and decarbonization platform with Emitwise’s automated, AI- and ML-driven supplier engagement tools and PCF calculator, creating a comprehensive, one-stop solution for supply chain carbon management. This solution enables enterprises to gain full visibility into Scope 3 emissions, engage thousands of suppliers efficiently, track and verify their emissions progress, and integrate carbon factors directly into procurement processes.
