Telecommunications companies inked agreements with TiVo for TiVo Broadband services
In a significant move, TiVo Platform Technologies, a subsidiary of Xperi, has unveiled TiVo Broadband, a solution designed exclusively for operators' broadband-only customers. This announcement was made recently, and the solution leverages technology from TiVo IPTV Platforms to improve the streaming video experience across various devices.
The new service offers a diverse range of streaming services to customers, providing a managed environment that caters to their needs. Four operators, including Buckeye Broadband, Blue Stream Fiber, Blue Ridge Communications, and Bluepeak, have already endorsed TiVo Broadband since its initial launch in January, indicating confidence in its ability to deliver and support innovation.
Geoff Shook, president and general manager at Buckeye Broadband, expressed support for the implementation of TiVo Broadband, believing it will provide a meaningful alternative programming source for their customers. Jeffrey Glahn, senior vice president, global sales at TiVo, stated that the service is enhancing the streaming video experience for broadband-only customers across various devices.
TiVo Broadband delivers SVoD, TiVo's FAST content network TiVo+, and customer-specific linear channels to an operator's broadband-only customer base. The solution is available on Evolution Digital's EVO FORCE 1 and FUSE 4K stick for use across devices.
According to Greg Ireland, IDC's Future Consumer research director, a robust entertainment experience platform can help broadband providers deliver a variety of streaming services to customers. TiVo Broadband is seen as an ally for operators seeking to advance their offerings and bring consumers to the content they love faster. The expansion of TiVo Broadband comes after its initial launch at CES in January 2024.
While no information is available about the four US telcos that recently chose to offer TiVo Broadband, their endorsement of the service suggests a growing interest in providing enhanced streaming experiences to their broadband-only customers. The implementation of TiVo Broadband is expected to help broadband providers harness the popularity of streaming to expand into new branded entertainment services.
