Tesla begins the groundwork for a third Supercharger station in Canmore, Alberta
Tesla has nearly completed construction of a new Supercharger station in Canmore, Alberta, located at the Canmore Gateway Shoppes on 802 Bow Valley Trail. This new 12-stall station, equipped with V4 technology, joins the town's existing Supercharger stations, expanding the total number of stalls to 24 within a 2km stretch along Bow Valley Trail.
The new Supercharger station, situated at the rear of the parking lot, is designed to potentially reduce the problem of ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles parking in EV charging spots, a common issue at one of the other popular stations in town.
The site is fenced off, with 12 V4 Supercharger posts installed, according to a photo shared on the TMC forum. However, the repaving of the lot is still pending. Nearby amenities include Circle K, KFC, Opa Greek restaurant, Canadian Pizza Unlimited, Canmore Shawarma, and more, providing convenience for Tesla owners during their charging stops.
This new Supercharger station complements the existing two stations in Canmore: one at 1702 Bow Valley Trail with 8 V3 250kW stalls, and one at 1719 Bow Valley Trail with 4 V2 150kW stalls. The development permit for the new Supercharger station was filed nearly two years ago.
Initially, the new Supercharger station was briefly listed as a potential new location by Tesla earlier this year, but was removed from the automaker's map of upcoming locations in February. Now, it's clear that the station is now nearly fully built out, serving as an important spot for Tesla owners travelling through the Rockies.
