Tesla Expands Supercharger Network in Recent Month, Welcomes Non-Tesla Electric Vehicles

In an exciting development for electric vehicle (EV) drivers in Australia, Tesla has recently opened its largest fast-charging site to date at Goulburn, New South Wales. The new station, featuring 20 high-speed V4 Supercharger stalls, is significant for enabling long-distance EV travel and is located near the famous Big Merino landmark.

The major new site announced and opened recently is the Goulburn Supercharger station. Located in Goulburn, New South Wales, this station uses Tesla's V4 Superchargers, which are high-speed chargers. While the exact kW capacity per stall for this site is not explicitly stated, V4 Superchargers generally support up to 250 kW or more per stall, enabling rapid charging. With 20 charging bays, it is the biggest Tesla Supercharger station in Australia as of August 2025.

Tesla's Supercharger network in Australia continues to grow, with the addition of another 30 locations across the country. In fact, as of May 31, 2025, the total number of Tesla supercharger sites in Australia is 119, with over 700 bays. The recent expansion is contributing to the major growth of Australia's most reliable charging network.

Other details about Tesla's Supercharger network in Australia mention that more than half of the locations now allow non-Tesla EVs to charge but with a price premium. Tesla also enforces charging etiquette policies like idle fees and charge limits to ensure availability.

Notable recent additions to the network include the Armidale site, located about 500 km north of Sydney, and the Campbellfield site in Victoria. The Armidale site, which opened on May 16, features a 4-stall V4 supercharger, while the Campbellfield site, which went live on May 30, boasts a 6-stall V3 Supercharger.

In addition, three new charging sites with 16 fast-chargers opened in May 2025. One of these sites is in Batemans Bay, a coastal town popular for tourism, which will benefit existing and new EV drivers.

Looking ahead, the biggest fast charging site, located in Goulburn, is expected to open imminently and welcome hundreds of EV drivers every month. Riz Akhtar, the founder of carloop and a mechanical engineer who specializes in Australian EV data, insight reports, and trends, is eagerly anticipating the opening of this site.

As the best-selling EV brand in the Australian market, Tesla's continued expansion of its Supercharger network is a testament to the growing popularity of electric vehicles in the country.
