  • Stay-in-Touch Feature: 76% of users expressed interest in a stay-in-touch feature using voice generative AI. This feature summarises text threads, places calls, and communicates real-time news, weather, and sports.
  • Food Ordering Feature: 71% of users expressed interest in an in-vehicle food ordering feature using voice generative AI. This feature allows users to order food from popular chains, pay automatically, and have it ready when they arrive.
  • Vehicle Management Feature: 85% of users expressed interest in a vehicle management feature using voice generative AI. This feature helps users navigate alerts, schedule vehicle service, and access vehicle manuals.

Pioneering the Field

SoundHound was the first AI company to launch a vehicle assistant with generative AI capabilities. This means that drivers can ask complex multi-turn questions, like "Where do the Giants play?", "What are the best seats?", "Navigate there", and receive dynamic, contextually relevant responses.

Global Adoption and Increased Usage

The software is now in production with multiple automakers globally in multiple languages. According to Mike Zagorsek, COO and Automotive lead at SoundHound AI, voice assistant usage has increased five-fold compared to a traditional vehicle voice assistant.

Benefits to Drivers and Passengers

These advancements represent a shift from simple command-response voice assistants to intelligent, context-aware AI companions that enhance driving safety, comfort, and engagement. Benefits to drivers and passengers include increased convenience and safety, a richer user experience, improved situational awareness, enhanced connectivity, and support for over-the-air updates.

In conclusion, SoundHound's AI-powered voice assistants are revolutionising in-car experiences by offering natural language understanding, fluid conversational interactions, integrated vehicle controls, and external knowledge access. These assistants enable drivers and passengers to engage in richer, context-aware dialogues, such as detailed trip planning, requesting local recommendations, checking weather, and even conducting voice commerce like ordering food—all hands-free and with follow-up question capabilities without interruption.
