Top Automakers Maintain Their Positions as Leaders in Retained Value: Lexus and Honda Remain on Top
Top Vehicles and Brands Shine in J.D. Power 2025 U.S. ALG Residual Value Awards
The J.D. Power 2025 U.S. ALG Residual Value Awards have been presented, honouring the top-performing vehicles and brands in terms of resale values for the 2025 model year.
In the electric muscle car segment, the Dodge Charger Daytona emerged as the vehicle with the highest residual value. The midsize pickup segment saw the Jeep Gladiator take the top spot, while the Jeep Wagoneer continued its dominance in the large SUV segment, winning for the third consecutive year.
Other vehicles that received recognition for outstanding value include the Chrysler 300, Chrysler Voyager, Dodge Durango, and Ram ProMaster City, which stood out for their Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) value or low total cost of ownership.
Leading Brands
Lexus led all brands with five model-level awards. The IS, LS, NX, RX, and TX models from Lexus each received a model-level award. Toyota followed closely with four model-level awards for the GR Supra, Camry, Land Cruiser, and Tundra.
To qualify for a brand award, manufacturers needed entries in at least four different vehicle segments. Honda continued to be the top mass market brand, maintaining disciplined pricing strategies in 2024. Subaru won three awards for the WRX, Crosstrek, and Forester, while GMC won three model-level accolades for the Sierra 3500 HD, Hummer EV SUT, and Hummer EV SUV.
Notable Awards
The selection process involved analyzing 311 models based on their used-vehicle performance, brand trajectory, and market competitiveness. Mercedes-Benz received an award for the Sprinter, Hyundai for the Kona EV, Kia for the Telluride, BMW for the 5 Series and X1, and Acura for the Integra.
Tesla received an award for the Model 3, and Dodge received an award for the Charger Daytona. Jeep won awards for the Wagoneer and Gladiator. Chevrolet received an award for the Corvette, and Nissan received an award for the Kicks.
In total, 16 brands received awards across 33 segments for the 2025 model year. For the fourth year in a row, Lexus was named the best premium brand.
