Top-Performing Tech Firms Secure Commanding Lead in Romania's Desirable Employers List
In Romania, tech giants have emerged as the most desirable employers for potential job seekers, according to the Randstad Romania Employer Brand Research 2025. This comprehensive study, part of the world's largest independent employer brand survey, ranked Microsoft at the top for the fourth consecutive year, earning a prestigious Hall of Fame badge. Schaeffler (formerly Vitesco Technologies) and IBM followed closely in the second and third spots, respectively.
The research also encompassed top employers in various sectors. HP led in services, Robert Bosch excelled in automotive car parts, Ford shone as an automotive car manufacturer, Versuni-Philips dominated manufacturing, Terapia stood out in pharmaceutical production, Coca Cola thrived in Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), and Vodafone was notable in telecommunications. Banca Transilvania excelled in finance, CEVA Logistics stood tall in logistics, UMB Spedition was prominent in construction and infrastructure, MOL Petroleum Products carved a niche in oil and gas, and eMAG thrived in retail.
As Dagmara Chudzińska-Matysiak, Country Manager of HR services company Randstad Romania, pointed out, there's a generational shift occurring in the job market. Factors such as inclusiveness, work-life balance, and job security are increasingly significant motivators for employees. These aspects can significantly improve overall job satisfaction, according to Ms. Chudzińska-Matysiak.
The research found an intriguing paradox in the job market: while the intention to switch jobs has slightly increased, actual turnover rates have remained steady. This suggests a cautious optimism among employees, who are open to change but also discerning in their decisions. For employers, this presents an opportunity to develop proactive retention strategies focusing on fair compensation, career growth, and continuous upskilling.
The study also revealed that millennials and Gen X place a higher emphasis on job security. Almost three-quarters of Romanian employees feel engaged in their current roles, with 56% expressing increased motivation compared to a year ago. However, salary and benefits continue to be the primary reason for low engagement, while appreciation remains crucial for motivation.
Reskilling is deemed important by 78% of the Romanian workforce, irrespective of age groups. While Gen X tends to be singularly driven by recognition, Gen Z and millennials cite a broader range of motivational factors, hinting at a potential preference for multifaceted engagement strategies among these groups. work-life balance holds more significance for digital talent, while professional and operational employees place greater emphasis on equity initiatives.
Job-switching intentions have risen by 2% compared to 2024, but actual turnover has remained stable. Gen Z leads in job switching (21%), while Baby Boomers switch the least (4%), reflecting age-related priorities and low risk tolerance.
While job boards are the most popular channel across all age groups, Gen Z relies more heavily on Google and social media, Millennials favor LinkedIn, while Gen X prefers personal connections. The study suggests a continued preference for traditional job search methods among the latter age group.
AI adoption remains higher among younger generations compared to older ones, although regular usage has declined across all age groups compared to 2024. Approximately 5% of respondents anticipate losing their job due to AI in the next five years, with concern being most pronounced in transport and logistics, and the least in administrative, secretarial, and HR roles.
Regarding equity, the survey highlighted that the proportion of minority employees facing obstacles due to their identity has increased by 4% from last year, underscoring a growing challenge.
In the 2025 edition, opinions from 170,000 respondents aged 18 to 64 were collected, representing approximately 6,084 companies across 34 markets. The Romanian edition of the study included insights from 4,030 employees across 150 companies.

The comprehensive study also evaluated top employers in the finance sector, with Banca Transilvania excelling. Businesses focusing on technology, such as Microsoft, Schaeffler (formerly Vitesco Technologies), and IBM, emerged as preferred employers among potential job seekers in Romania.
Recognizing the importance of work-life balance, job security, and fair compensation, employers in various sectors, including finance, need to develop proactive retention strategies that cater to diverse motivational factors across different age groups and industries.
