Trumps' Assassination Attempt Jokes Condemned by Libs of TikTok

In an informal, straightforward style, let's delve into the world of Chaya Raichik, a Brooklyn real estate agent who moonlights as the ringleader of the chaotic LibsofTikTok account. Known for her relentless opposition to cancel culture, Raichik has seized a moment ripe with controversy, the assassination attempt on former President Trump, to swiftly turn the tables on those who made insensitive jokes about it.

The attempt on Trump's life, just a weekend ago, has unsurprisingly stirred up a storm of online dialogues, with a mix of decent and indecent remarks. Raichik has seized this opportunity, aiming to "stick it to the libs" and expose their off-color jokes to their employers.

On her Substack, Raichik wrote: "A plethora of unhinged liberals have taken to social media to cheer DEATH upon President Trump. Expressing their frustration that the shooter missed his target." She further elucidated her role in the termination of so-called "leftists," noting: "Indeed, thanks to Libs of TikTok, 10 frenzied leftists have already been fired from their jobs because we shed light on their pro-murder sentiments towards President Trump."

The methods used by Raichik and her team are akin to confrontation tactics, as seen in a video circulating online. In this video, someone confronts a woman at Home Depot, allegedly a Facebook user who made a remark about the shooter's aim. The woman defends herself, stating, "I am at work." Later, Libs of TikTok published this video and tagged Home Depot, questioning the store's values and whether they employed individuals who encourage political violence and the assassination of Presidents. Home Depot eventually responded, clarifying that the woman no longer works for them.

Right-wing activists have utilized similar tactics on various corporations, often pressing companies to denounce progressive ideologies or removing executives for supporting them. Notably, such attacks followed the backlash against Bud Light's controversial ad campaign featuring transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. This was perceived as a victory in the culture war, aimed at quelling the "woke" (read: LGBTQ) influence on corporate branding. Similarly, similar attacks ensued against Target for celebrating Pride month.

However, this type of activism is nothing new; it has been a common practice, albeit often initiated by leftist actors, targeting companies and individuals for perceived transgressions concerning racism, sexism, homophobia, and more. These years, particularly during the Trump administration, led to several firings, expulsions, and blacklistings, arguably disproportionate reactions to a climate of heightened (and, at times, hysterical) political rhetoric that pervaded the culture. These were the years when one could be fired for joking about microaggressions, for example.

However, Raichik, a self-professed nutcase and opportunist, operates in a league of her own. Her recent Substack post about "DERANGED LEFTISTS" seems to be a cunning money-making scheme. The text is peppered with hyperlinks, all redirecting to a donation portal inviting visitors to "EXPOSE ANTI-AMERICAN LEFTIST TERRORISTS" and offering donation amounts ranging from $20 to $10,000.

Even Reason magazine, a conservative-libertarian publication, acknowledged Raichik's hypocrisy, accusing her in a recent article of "taking a page from the playbook she supposedly detests." Billy Binion wrote: "Regardless of your feelings about the former president, encouraging his assassination attempt is, indeed, wrong. It is also wrong to mobilize one's massive following to turn a random woman into a national pariah, driving her into isolation-potentially leaving her unable to sustain herself and her family-because of a tasteless comment made on social media." Well said, Binion!

  1. Raichik's strategy on LibsofTikTok, in the digital realm, is quite similar to real-world tactics, as she exposes tech-savvy individuals making insensitive comments, possibly leading to their dismissal from their jobs.
  2. The future of online discourse, especially following the attack on the former President, is filled with controversy, with individuals like Raichik using technology to unearth microaggressions and hypocrisy in the way people express their opinions or jokes.
  3. As Raichik continues to exploit moments of controversy, such as the Trump assassination attempt, she demonstrates a glaring example of hypocrisy herself by fundraising off the very attacks she publicly condemns.
  4. The line between activism and bullying remains blurred, whether it comes from the right or the left, as individuals like Raichik and her followers often resort to microaggressions and possibly, even cyber bullying, which might have serious implications for the future of technology and its impact on society.
