United Airlines First Mainline Flight with Starlink Set for October 15
United Airlines has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification for its first mainline aircraft equipped with Starlink. The first commercial flight using this certified aircraft is scheduled for October 15th.
United has already made significant progress in integrating Starlink into its fleet. More than half of its regional aircraft are now equipped with the system, with passengers reporting positive experiences.
The FAA has approved Starlink's Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for United's Boeing 737-800 fleet. This approval paves the way for United to equip its mainline aircraft with Starlink. The first mainline flight is expected to depart from Newark/New York on October 15th.
United is currently installing Starlink equipment on its aircraft at a rate of around 50 regional jets per month. Starlink is designed to work on a broad range of commercial aircraft types, with installations across the globe providing high-speed inflight internet.
United Airlines' FAA certification for Starlink-equipped mainline aircraft marks a significant step in enhancing inflight connectivity for passengers. The first commercial flight is expected on October 15th, with positive customer feedback already received from regional flights. United continues to expand Starlink installations across its fleet.
