Unveil Google's easy-to-use feature that transforms your photos into cartoons instantly

In an exciting update, Google Photos is introducing a new feature called Remix, which allows users to transform their photos into various art styles such as Anime, Comic Book, 3D Animation, and Sketch. Here's how you can use this new feature:

  1. Open the Google Photos app on your mobile device.
  2. Tap "Create New" located at the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Select "Remix" from the menu.
  4. Choose your desired art style from the available options.
  5. Tap "Choose photo" to select the image you want to transform.
  6. Tap "Generate" to have Google Photos apply the selected style to your image.
  7. If you’re not pleased with the result, tap "Regenerate" to create a new variation with the same style.
  8. Once satisfied, tap "Save" to keep the edited image or "Share" to send it to others.

The Remix feature works best with well-lit photos that are focused on one or a few subjects facing the camera for optimal results. However, having too many people in an image may cause issues with the Remix feature.

The Remix update is expected to be a server-side update, meaning it will gradually appear on devices over time. Initially highlighted in mid-July, the Remix update is not yet widely available, but it's rolling out gradually.

In addition to the Remix feature, Google Photos also offers a creative-focused photo-to-video update, similar to the Gemini app, which allows users to turn their still, static images into short six-second video clips. Users can customise these videos by having the people in the photo make small hand gestures/movements or do something wacky, like throw confetti into the air.

Google detailed the Remix update this week, possibly indicating a closer rollout for the feature. The information about the Remix feature was posted by Google in an explainer. Users can save and share their transformed images and videos once they have access to the Remix feature.
