Ural Drones Successfully Test High-Rise Firefighting in Yekaterinburg

In a significant development, Ural drone manufacturers and emergency services have successfully tested unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for high-rise firefighting in Yekaterinburg. The tests, conducted by the Ural Design Bureau of Civil Aviation, showcased the potential of drones in saving lives and extinguishing fires in complex, tall structures.

The tests took place at Logino airport and on Malysheva Street, where drones rose to heights of 60 and 100 meters to extinguish simulated fires using a foam solution. Notably, a simulated fire at a height of 50 meters in a high-rise building under construction was successfully extinguished, demonstrating the drones' capability to reach and tackle fires in hard-to-access areas.

The regional government, working on the 'Unmanned Aerial Systems' national project, is focusing on the civilian use of drones. This includes expanding their application to fields such as energy, agriculture, environmental protection, ecology, emergency medicine, and rescue services. The regional program for the development of UAS until 2030 has been approved, reflecting this broad scope.

With six drone manufacturers in the Sverdlovsk region supplying products to hundreds of enterprises, the potential for drone use in various sectors is vast. The successful tests highlight the high potential of using drones in firefighting, particularly on complex and high-rise objects. The technology of high-altitude firefighting and saving people with drones is being actively worked out, with representatives of the regional and central apparatus of the MCHS involved in the process.
