VinFast marks entry in Indian market, aims to establish 34 additional showrooms across the country by 2025's end
Vietnamese automaker VinFast is making waves in the Indian market with its upcoming electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu and the launch of its premium electric SUVs, the VF6 and VF7.
The VF6 and VF7 are set to make their debut in India in August 2025, with pre-bookings already open. The showroom, located in Surat, Gujarat, offers an immersive product experience, seamless vehicle purchase journeys, and after-sales support.
VinFast VF6: Compact and Tech-Focused
The compact VF6 is a B-segment electric SUV, measuring 4,241 mm in length, 1,834 mm in width, and 1,580 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,730 mm. The SUV boasts a WLTP certified range of up to 440 km (Eco variant) and around 381 km (Plus variant), powered by a 59.6 kWh battery pack.
The VF6 comes equipped with a front-mounted motor producing 201 bhp and 310 Nm torque, supports Level 2 AC and Level 3 DC fast charging, and features a 12.9-inch touchscreen, dual-tone vegan leather upholstery, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, navigation, a head-up display, eight-way power-adjustable seats, wireless charging, and a multifunction steering wheel.
Safety features include Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, lane centering, blind-spot detection, automatic emergency braking, a 360-degree camera, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), hill-start assist, and multiple airbags. The VF6 is expected to cost between ₹18 lakh and ₹24 lakh.
VinFast VF7: Mid-Size and Premium
The mid-size VF7 offers a more spacious and premium experience, with a length of 4,545 mm, width of 1,890 mm, and height of 1,635.75 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. The Eco variant boasts a WLTP range of up to 450 km, while the Plus variant offers a range of up to 431 km.
The VF7 comes with a 75.3 kWh battery (usable 70.8 kWh) and delivers impressive performance, with the Eco variant featuring a single motor, front-wheel drive, 201 bhp, and 310 Nm torque, capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. The Plus variant offers a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, 348 bhp, 500 Nm torque, and a 0-100 km/h time of 5.8 seconds.
The VF7 features a 12.9-inch touchscreen (Eco) or a 15-inch touchscreen (Plus), both with Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, vegan leather upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, dual-zone automatic climate control, a high-efficiency PM1.0 air purifier with ionizer, ventilated front seats, and an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat.
Safety and technology features include Level 2 ADAS, signature LED lighting, wireless charging, and advanced connected car tech. The VF7 is expected to cost between ₹30 lakh and ₹35 lakh.
VinFast's partnership with Chandan Car aims to shape a premium EV experience for Indian customers and establish a nationwide network for EV services in India. The upcoming manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, will produce electric vehicles locally, embodying VinFast's commitment to quality, trust, and service excellence in India.
