Vodafone Germany Modernizes Hildesheim's Himmelthür Mobile Station for Future-Proof 5G

Vodafone Germany, a leading communications provider with over 15,000 employees and an annual turnover of approximately 13 billion euros, has announced essential modernization work on a local mobile station in Hildesheim's Himmelthür district. The project, set to take place from 06. to approximately 24. October 2025, aims to future-proof the location and boost mobile data traffic in the rapidly growing district.

Vodafone, serving over 30 million mobile, 10 million broadband, and 12 million TV customers, apologizes for any inconvenience caused during the construction. The company assures that emergency calls to 112 will remain unaffected, and the caller's location will continue to be automatically transmitted. However, temporary restrictions such as weaker network or no reception are expected for individual customers during the work.

The modernization project involves installing additional broadband antennas and building a new mobile data highway for the area. This investment aligns with Vodafone's commitment to sustainability, aiming to be carbon neutral by 2025 and emission-free by 2040, with its power demand already fully covered by renewable energies. The 5G network, reaching over 90% of the German population, and the machine network (Narrowband IoT), operational on over 97% of the German surface, will also benefit from these improvements.

Vodafone's modernization work in Hildesheim's Himmelthür district is a testament to its commitment to enhancing network quality and sustainability. While temporary restrictions are expected, the project promises long-term benefits for the growing mobile data traffic in the area. The company appreciates customers' understanding during this necessary maintenance.
