WENZEL Enhances Quartis R2025-2 Software for Advanced Surface Topography Analysis

WENZEL Metrology GmbH has enhanced its WM | Quartis R2025-2 user software to integrate the WM | RS-T sensor. This upgrade enables a broader range of roughness-based measuring tasks, marking a significant advancement in surface topography analysis.

The WM | RS-T sensor, a cantilever roughness measuring system, offers superior accuracy by eliminating the need for sliding blocks. It boasts two axes of rotation (R- & T-axis) for precise positioning relative to the workpiece, along with a rotary table axis (C) and standard coordinate axes (XYZ). This flexibility allows for a wide range of measuring tasks, including gear measurement, where roughness and waviness parameters are crucial for describing surface topography and predicting gearbox running behavior.

Traditional sliding block systems can distort waviness and shape detection, affecting the standard-compliant evaluation of W and P parameters. While coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) can measure waviness and roughness, tactile methods may introduce distortions in the medium and long-wave spatial frequency range. Wenzel Metrology GmbH's optical measurement technology, implemented several years ago, addresses these challenges by enabling optical dimensional measurements, including waviness and roughness, along with their corresponding parameters.

The WM | RS-T sensor further simplifies the process by reducing control behavior requirements for CMMs. It allows measurements on objects with difficult geometric conditions, expanding the scope of possible measurements.

With the integration of the WM | RS-T sensor into the WM | Quartis R2025-2 user software, WENZEL Metrology GmbH offers a comprehensive solution for roughness-based measuring tasks. This upgrade improves accuracy, versatility, and ease of use, making it an invaluable tool for surface topography analysis in various industries.
