Runna, the popular running app, has announced its internationalization, expanding into seven new languages and partnering with renowned fitness brands to make running more accessible and enjoyable for millions of runners worldwide.

The app's elements, including language, imagery, and content, will adapt to the cultural context of each new market. Runna's expansion follows its acquisition by fitness giant Strava, and Strava's experience in localisation played a crucial role in helping Runna bring this expansion to life.

Dom Maskell, co-founder and CEO of Runna, stated that the expansion into seven new languages—French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, and Japanese—is a significant milestone for the app. "We're thrilled to make Runna available to runners in these new languages, and we're committed to ensuring that our app is not just translated, but also inclusive, accessible, and tailored to each localised region," Maskell said.

The app's expansion strategies aim to maximize impact in every localised region. Runna has launched 'Races By Runna', a feature that allows runners to participate in virtual races, as part of its expansion. The app's training plans, coaching videos, and partnerships are now available in the mentioned languages.

Runna has partnered with Lululemon, Maurten, and Parkrun to strengthen community partnerships in every localised region. These partnerships are designed to provide runners with the best possible running experience, whether they're training for a marathon or simply enjoying a casual jog.

The app's adaptability to cultural contexts is a key part of its expansion strategy. By understanding and respecting the unique needs and preferences of each market, Runna aims to create a running community that is diverse, inclusive, and supportive.

Strava's support was instrumental in bringing the Runna update to market quickly and at a large scale. With Strava's backing, Runna is poised to become a global leader in the running app industry, making running more accessible, effective, and enjoyable for runners everywhere.

As Runna continues to grow, it remains committed to its mission of making running more accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of where they are in the world. With its new languages, partnerships, and features, Runna is well on its way to achieving that goal.
