Xpeng G7 electric vehicle accumulates over 10,000 orders within a single hour.
Xpeng, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, is making waves in the global automotive market with its latest offering, the all-new tech-driven G7 SUV. The company has recently announced its expansion into the UK and other European markets, marking a significant step in its global ambitions.
Key Features and Specifications
Technology
At the heart of the G7 is Xpeng's in-house developed Turing AI smart driving chip, offering a computing power of up to 2,250 TOPS. This makes the G7 the EV model with the highest smart driving computing power to date. The chip supports Vision-Language Models (VLM) and Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models, enabling advanced AI functionalities like predictive route planning and real-time decision-making.
The vehicle also features a massive 87-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD) developed in collaboration with Huawei, creating a futuristic driving experience. A large 15.6-inch central touchscreen powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8295 chipset enhances the cockpit experience.
Design and Performance
The G7 is a mid-size SUV with dimensions of 4,892 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm. It is slightly larger than the Tesla Model Y. The G7 adopts Xpeng's second-generation "X Face" styling, featuring sleek running lights, a closed front end, and distinctive "Star Ring" rear taillights.
Powered by a rear-wheel-drive electric motor producing 292 horsepower (218 kW), it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. The G7 offers two LFP battery options: a 68.5 kWh or an 80.8 kWh pack, delivering a range of 602–702 km (CLTC) with 18-inch wheels or 577–677 km with 20-inch wheels.
Pricing and Delivery
The G7 is priced between 195,800 yuan and 225,800 yuan across three trims in China. While specific delivery timelines for individual customers are not detailed, Xpeng aims to double its delivery volume compared to 2024, positioning the G7 as a key contributor to this goal.
The vehicle was officially launched on July 3, 2025, and is part of Xpeng's efforts to achieve higher sales volumes.
Additional Features
The G7 supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, providing up to 6 kW of external power. It offers ample cargo space with an 819-liter trunk that expands to 2,277 liters with the seats folded and additional compartments. The vehicle also features an adaptive AI-driven suspension system that adjusts to road conditions within milliseconds, enhancing comfort and ride quality.
A Look Back
As of May, carloop data shows that Xpeng has delivered just under 700 of the G6 SUVs, its first model in the market. Riz Akhtar, the founder of carloop, is a mechanical engineer who spent the first 7 years of his career building transport infrastructure before starting carloop. He drives a red Tesla Model 3.
The charge port of the Xpeng G7 is on the vehicle's right-hand side, opposite to that found on Tesla models. The back of the Xpeng G7 features a full-width light bar with curved tail lights. The G7 received over 10,000 orders within an hour of launching.
The roof of the Xpeng G7 doesn't slope as much as the G6, giving it a more conventional SUV look. The interior of the new G7 features flush door handles on the large SUV. The vehicle also comes with repeater cameras for autonomous and smart driving on the sides.
The Xpeng G7 is dubbed as the world's first "Super AI car" due to its in-house developed computer chip outperforming high-end automotive grade chips. The WLTP cycle used in Australia suggests a range of 450 km to 580 km for the G7. The vehicle's family-aimed SUV's pricing starts at $A50,200, making it above the G6 SUV in China.
The Xpeng G7's full-width light-bar similar to the 2025 Xpeng G6 adds to its futuristic look. The G7 also supports 5C ultra-fast charging on an 800V platform, allowing it to recharge up to 436 km of range in just 10 minutes.
