In a significant move, the XRP Ledger (XRPL) has integrated with Axelar's interoperability protocol, the XRPL EVM sidechain, and Squid's cross-chain infrastructure. This multi-layered integration positions XRP strongly in the decentralized Web3 space, offering a vast array of benefits to users, developers, and institutions alike.

The integration, facilitated by Axelar, a decentralized interoperability network, connects the XRPL EVM sidechain and XRPL mainnet to over 80 blockchain networks. This connection allows assets such as wrapped XRP to be transferred securely and efficiently across different chains, serving as the native gas token on the XRPL EVM sidechain. This expansion vastly increases the XRPL ecosystem's reach and utility, enabling cross-chain real-world assets (RWA) and Decentralized Finance (DeFi) applications.

The XRPL EVM sidechain, developed by blockchain engineering firm Peersyst, supports Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) smart contracts. This means that developers can deploy and interact with Ethereum-compatible dApps within the XRPL ecosystem, bridging the XRPL's fast, low-cost transaction infrastructure and institutional focus with the broad developer base and tooling of the Ethereum ecosystem. XRP remains the native token shared one-to-one between the mainnet and the sidechain, maintaining ecosystem integrity.

Squid, an application built on top of Axelar, further simplifies cross-chain token movement. Users can now execute any-to-any token exchanges and interact with dApps on various networks through Squidrouter, the front-end interface of Squid. The platform, which operates on an intent-based framework, identifies the optimal route for trade requests, offering users a simplified and accessible experience.

CORAL, a component within Squid's infrastructure, streamlines liquidity aggregation by minimizing reliance on individual blockchains and messaging protocols. This integration marks a turning point for XRP and the XRPL ecosystem, positioning XRP within a deeply interconnected Web3 framework.

The Interchain Token Service (ITS) by Axelar governs the movement of tokens and ensures the integrity of asset transfers between XRPL and other chains. The XRPL's Request-For-Quote (RFQ) auction model used by CORAL matches trades with market makers, offering users greater pricing accuracy and reduced slippage.

This transformation positions XRPL as a network capable of participating fully in the decentralized Web3 space. By combining XRPL's features — including over 6 million wallet holders, fast block times, low costs, and regulatory compliance focus — with Ethereum-compatible smart contracts on its EVM sidechain, the XRPL ecosystem appeals to both traditional financial institutions and DeFi developers, addressing scalability and interoperability challenges.

In summary, the XRPL's integration with Axelar’s interoperability protocol, the XRPL EVM sidechain, and Squid’s infrastructure significantly enhances XRP's ecosystem by enabling secure, scalable, and user-friendly cross-chain operations. This positions XRP as a versatile and connected asset within the decentralized Web3 landscape, unlocking new growth opportunities for developers, users, and institutions alike.
