Welcome to the Future: Zotac's Zotac Zone 2!

Step into the world of high-end gaming with the latest handheld from Zotac, the Zotac Zone 2, showcased at Computex 2025. Ditching Windows and SteamOS, Zotac opts for Manjaro Linux as its operating system. However, users can always switch to Windows or other OSes according to their preference.

The Zone 2 boasts a powerful AMD Ryzen AI HX 370 APU, with a 12-core Zen 5 CPU and an Radeon 890M iGPU. The device is equipped with a 7-inch 1080p AMOLED touch display, offering a 120 Hz refresh rate, 800-nits peak brightness, and HDR support. Zotac sticks with the tabletop gaming capabilities that made the original Zone popular, providing a built-in kickstand for those gaming sessions at your desk.

Controls include dual hall-effect joysticks with adjustable triggers, two touchpads, and a radial dial below the joysticks. The device is also jam-packed with I/O ports like UHS-II microSD, USB4, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 take care of wireless connectivity, while a mesh-style design ensures efficient heat dissipation.

The Zotac Zone 2 features an immutable version of Manjaro Linux with the KDE Plasma 6 desktop environment. While it utilizes Proton for game compatibility, it faces similar anti-cheat limitations found in multiplayer games on other Steam-based systems. Nonetheless, Windows and other OS switches are an option for the user.

As for the battery life, it delivers around 3 to 4 hours of gameplay, comparable to the original Zone. Pricing and availability details for the Zotac Zone 2 are yet to be officially announced. Keep a close eye for updates as the device is expected to be displayed again at IFA 2025 in Berlin, promising more information on launch and pricing.
